LEADING LATINA ACTIVIST MARTHA ESCUTIA ENDORSES DEMOCRAT RICARDO LARA FOR 50TH ASSEMBLY DISTRICT
Former Chair of Senate Health and Human Services and Judiciary Committees joins growing list of elected, community and labor leaders for Ricardo Lara
LOS ANGELES—Democrat Ricardo Lara today received the endorsement of former state Senator Martha Escutia in his bid to represent the 50th Assembly District. Citing his commitment to growing the economy by growing the middle class, Senator Escutia praised Mr. Lara’s ideas and passion and established him as the candidate best qualified to lead southeast Los Angeles County into the new economy.
“We need a Democrat Assemblymember who understands the rich history of manufacturing and industrial work in southeast L.A. County,” said Martha Escutia. “I’m endorsing Ricardo Lara because he knows communities like South Gate, Bellflower, Commerce, Lynwood and others are suffering from the tragic loss of manufacturing jobs.”
“I’m supporting his candidacy because of his willingness to work night and day to bring investment, innovation and new job opportunities to this region’s stagnant economy,” Escutia added. “Ricardo Lara shares my urgent commitment to bring quality manufacturing jobs to these communities. I look forward to working with him to transform southeast L.A. County into a hub of industrial strength that fits our new economy.”
“I am proud that former 50th District Assemblywoman and state Senator Martha Escutia has endorsed my candidacy,” said Ricardo Lara. “Senator Escutia has been a tremendous mentor and tireless champion for this district. It is an honor and blessing.”
