L.A. MAYOR ANTONIO VILLARAIGOSA ENDORSES DEMOCRAT RICARDO LARA FOR 50TH ASSEMBLY DISTRICT
Mayor lauds Lara’s focus on bringing good jobs for every Californian-the American Dream
LOS ANGELES—Democrat Ricardo Lara today received the endorsement of Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa for the 50th Assembly District. Comprising the southeast Los Angeles County cities of Bell, Bellflower, Bell Gardens, Commerce, Cudahy, Downey, Lynwood, South Gate, and the communities of Florence-Graham and Walnut Park—Mayor Villaraigosa said the district would be well served by Lara, a leader able to reach consensus to make California better, and one who will work well with all state leaders regardless of party affiliation.
“Ricardo Lara is focused on big-picture problem solving and I’m tremendously impressed with his passion and ideas,” said Mayor Villaraigosa. “Ricardo is committed to bringing jobs to L.A. County, and he will be successful at representing the best interests of residents in the 50th District.”
Mayor Villaraigosa joins a distinguished list of local leaders who have thrown their weight behind Lara, including former Assembly Speaker Fabian Núñez, LAUSD President Mónica García former state Senator Richard Polanco, Assemblymember Kevin de León, L.A. City Councilmember Jose Huizar, and others.
“It’s an honor to receive Mayor Villaraigosa’s endorsement, and I’m eager to get about the work of bringing jobs to L.A. County,” said Lara. “The one thing I share in common with everyone who has endorsed my candidacy is simply this: we need Democratic lawmakers in Sacramento who will solve problems that bring good jobs for every Californian. That is my sole focus and I will continue my campaign with residents of the 50th District to make that clear.”
“I will fight to make sure every young person can go to college,” said Lara. “I will fight for everyone’s right to a family doctor when they’re sick. But most of all: I will fight for the American Dream... good jobs for every Californian."
