LOS ANGELES COLLEGE FACULTY GUILD ENDORSES DEMOCRAT RICARDO LARA FOR 50TH ASSEMBLY DISTRICT

Faculty at the nine Los Angeles Community Colleges praise Lara's strong commitment to Higher Eduction

LOS ANGELES—Democrat Ricardo Lara today received the endorsement of the Los Angeles College Faculty Guild, American Federation of Teachers Local 1521 for the 50th Assembly District. Representing full-time and adjunct faculty at City, East Los Angeles, Harbor, Mission, Pierce, Southwest, Trade Tech, Valley and West Los Angeles Colleges, the Guild is the largest local union of community college faculty in California and marks a high point in Lara’s campaign for State Assembly.

“As the first in my family to graduate from college, I’ve experienced firsthand how an education can help you achieve the American Dream,” said Ricardo Lara. “I will fight to make sure every young person can go to college.”

“About 70% of all nurses and 80% of firefighters, law enforcement officers and EMTs in California receive their education from community colleges,” Lara added. “I am deeply honored to receive the endorsement of the men and women who educate the next generation of first-responders and emergency personnel.”
