Commander of the largest Sheriff's Department in the United States supports Democrat Ricardo Lara for Assembly

LOS ANGELES—Democrat Ricardo Lara today received the endorsement of Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca for his strong commitment to combat gang violence in schools and on the streets.

“I am proud to have received the support of Sheriff Baca,” said Ricardo Lara. “The Sheriff is a visionary and a true leader in our community. I look forward to working with him to protect our communities from violence and crime.”

“The first step in improving education is addressing school violence,” Lara added. “No matter how good a teacher may be, violence only makes it that much more difficult for students to learn. Sheriff Lee Baca has proven that community-oriented law enforcement programs work.”
